Description: The 2017 Hindi film *Bank Chor* follows the story of Champak Chandrakant Chiplunkar, a simple man from Maharashtra with a belief in Vaastu, who plans to rob a local bank in Mumbai. With the help of his friends Genda and Gulab, Champak disguises himself as a sadhu while his accomplices wear elephant and horse masks. Armed with weapons, they manage to bypass the bank’s security and take control of the premises, holding 28 people hostage, including bank staff and customers. Among the hostages are a nervous housewife, a sassy teller, a hyperactive chef, rapper Baba Sehgal, and Jugnu, who claims to be an undercover police officer from Faizabad.
As the situation escalates, the hostages are restrained with zip-ties and moved to a back room while the manager is forced to open the vault. Champak tries to justify his actions by fabricating stories about his struggles and aspirations. However, the robbery takes an unexpected turn when CBI officer Amjad Khan, known for his ruthless and trigger-happy approach, arrives on the scene. Khan gives the robbers a one-hour ultimatum to surrender, showing little concern for the hostages’ safety.
Meanwhile, a larger conspiracy unfolds as the Indian Minister of Home Affairs becomes involved in the case, seeking a disk hidden inside the bank that contains information capable of ruining his political career. Outside the bank, a media circus, led by crime reporter Gayatri Ganguly (Gaga), who idolizes Arnab Goswami, adds to the chaos. Amidst the tension and twists, the robbers find themselves in a precarious situation, struggling to maintain control as external forces close in on them.
