Description: Bandhan (2004) is a heartfelt story primarily narrated by Mina, one of the central characters. She introduces her family members, highlighting their kind and loving nature, with the exception of her strict and temperamental father. Mina is no longer alive, and her husband Rohit and son Rony reside in Singapore. Since Mina married against her family’s wishes, Rohit and Rony have no connection with her family.
The plot unfolds as Chumki, Mina’s cousin, prepares for her wedding. While most of the family, including Mina’s mother Sabitri Devi, wishes to involve Rohit in the celebrations, Mina’s father strongly opposes it. Despite his resistance, Sabitri Devi remains determined and successfully invites Rohit to attend.
Upon arrival, Rohit is warmly welcomed by the family, except by Mina’s father, Pratap Narayan, and his son. The two mistreat Rohit, subjecting him to constant humiliation. However, Rohit remains patient and explains to Rony why they are unwelcome in the family.
As the story progresses, Mina’s twin sister, Rina, returns home. Rony sees her as a mother figure, while Rohit and Rina grow closer. Slowly, Pratap Narayan begins to accept Rohit and Rony. However, tensions rise again when Rina’s marriage is arranged with someone else. Rina insists on marrying Rohit, but he fears facing rejection from the family once more.
The situation takes a dramatic turn when a letter from Rina to Rohit ends up in Pratap Narayan’s hands, leading him to expel Rohit from the house. Eventually, the conflicts are resolved, and Pratap Narayan goes to the station to bring Rohit back.
The film explores themes of family, love, and reconciliation, capturing the struggles of a family torn apart by past decisions.
