**Storyline:**
Near the ancient Indian kingdom of Mahishmati, an injured woman emerges from a cave beside a mountain waterfall, carrying an infant. She kills two pursuing soldiers but slips while crossing a raging river. Before drowning, she raises the baby and prays to Lord Shiva, urging that the child—Mahendra Baahubali—must survive. The baby is rescued by the Amburi tribe, who live near the river and worship Lord Shiva. Despite the villagers’ pleas to return the child to the mountain, Sanga, the chieftain’s wife, decides to adopt him to protect him from danger. She names him Shivudu (Shivu).
As Shivu grows, he becomes an ambitious and mischievous child, obsessed with climbing the mountain to discover its secret. Despite Sanga’s constant warnings, he repeatedly attempts the climb, improving each time. At 25, he demonstrates extraordinary strength by lifting a Shiva Lingam and placing it at the mountain’s base. Later, he finds a mask that seems to have fallen from the summit and, noticing its feminine features, is inspired to scale the mountain.
Upon reaching the top, Shivu encounters a warrior named Avantika, who is fighting Mahishmati soldiers. He learns that she is part of a resistance group determined to overthrow the tyrannical king of Mahishmati, Bhallaladeva, and rescue Princess Devasena, the sister of the resistance leader, Jaya Varma. Shivu falls in love with Avantika and secretly follows her, even drawing a tattoo on her hand while she sleeps. Avantika is assigned the mission to rescue Devasena. Upon discovering Shivu, she attacks him, but he overpowers her and returns her mask. Realizing his dedication, Avantika reciprocates his feelings.
