The romantic subplot between Spandan and Jonaki draws inspiration from the iconic relationship between Spider-Man and Mary Jane. The humor, laced with sexual innuendos and borderline sexist jokes, aligns with stereotypical comedy tropes. While the film is not boring, it is undeniably odd. Despite its quirky approach, the storyline remains a familiar tale of a poor boy falling for a rich girl, facing opposition from her family, and eventually eloping with her.
The performances stand out, particularly those of Chiranjeet and Ambarish Bhattacharya. Chiranjeet masterfully balances emotional depth and comedic timing, while Ambarish convincingly portrays a character with darker nuances. Biswarup Biswas, who juggles both acting and directing, delivers a solid performance as Spandan’s best friend, Himu. However, Koushani Mukherjee’s portrayal falls short, as her performance lacks conviction, despite her visual appeal. Jeet breaks away from his typical heroic roles, embracing a more humble, boy-next-door character, which feels refreshing but somewhat inconsistent with his usual persona.
In summary, “Baccha Shoshur” is a quirky comedy with a mix of humor and drama. While its eccentricity may appeal to some viewers, its reliance on conventional tropes and uneven performances leaves room for improvement.
