Description: **Asur (2020) – A Story of Art, Passion, and Ambition**
Kigan is a deeply passionate artist, wholly devoted to his craft. Immersed in his thoughts, he often disregards his surroundings. As an art professor, his unconventional behavior, such as consuming alcohol during class, leads to frequent suspensions. Eventually, he is dismissed after a controversial photoshoot involving a rickshaw puller and one of his female students. However, rather than feeling disheartened by losing his job, Kigan embraces his newfound freedom as an independent artist, taking full ownership of his creations.
In his work, Kigan begins to envision Devi Durga as a young girl who accompanies him. Over time, he develops a deep affection for her and decides to create something grand and immortal centered around Durga. He reaches out to Aditi, a friend who shares an affection for him and was once his classmate in art college. Aditi’s father, a patron of Deshbandhu Park, supports the project, and Kigan proposes building the world’s largest Durga idol there. Initially mocked by the committee, Kigan wins their approval after presenting a demo of the idol in a tennis court.
The puja committee previously worked with a corporate sponsor run by Bodhi, Aditi’s husband and Kigan’s friend. Bodhi agrees to sponsor the project on the condition that Kigan is removed as the creator. However, Aditi’s father refuses to sideline Kigan, leading them to collaborate with a new company instead. This new sponsor heavily markets the puja, generating immense public excitement.
As Kigan’s creation gains popularity, overshadowing other puja pandals, Bodhi becomes deeply envious. Fueled by jealousy, he plots to destroy the Deshbandhu Park puja and exact revenge on Kigan.
**A tale of art, ambition, and rivalry, Asur (2020) captures the complexities of creativity and human emotions.**
