Description: In 1492 Andalusia, during the Granada War, Aguilar de Nerha is initiated into the Assassins Brotherhood. His mission is to protect Prince Ahmed de Granada from the Knights Templar. In 1986, a young boy named Callum “Cal” Lynch witnesses his mother’s death at the hands of his father, Joseph, a modern-day Assassin. Joseph is later captured by gunmen led by Alan Rikkin, CEO of the Templars’ Abstergo Foundation, who convinces Cal to escape.
In 2016, Cal is sentenced to death for killing a pimp, but his execution is staged by the Abstergo Foundation, which takes him to their research facility in Madrid. There, Cal learns that the Templars are searching for the Apple of Eden, a device they believe can eliminate violence by controlling humanity’s free will. Sofia, Alan’s daughter and head scientist, reveals that Cal is a descendant of Aguilar, the last known person to possess the Apple. Using the Animus, a machine that allows Cal to relive Aguilar’s genetic memories, Abstergo hopes to uncover the Apple’s location.
In 15th-century Spain, Aguilar and his partner, Maria, are sent to rescue Prince Ahmed, who has been kidnapped by the Templar Grand Master, Tomas de Torquemada. The Templars aim to force Ahmed’s father, Sultan Muhammad XII, to surrender the Apple. Despite their efforts, Aguilar and Maria are overpowered and captured by Torquemada’s enforcer, Ojeda. Cal is abruptly pulled out of the Animus by Sofia.
At the facility, Cal encounters other descendants of Assassins, most of whom distrust him. However, he befriends Lin, a descendant of a 16th-century Chinese Assassin named Shao Jun, and Moussa, a descendant of an 18th-century Haitian Assassin named Baptiste. Cal begins experiencing hallucinations, known as “the Bleeding Effect,” involving both Aguilar and his father, Joseph.
