Description: Scarlett Marlowe, a young alchemy scholar, continues her late father’s quest to find the philosopher’s stone, a legendary substance said to transform base metals into gold or silver and grant eternal life. After discovering the “Rose Key” in a cave in Iran and narrowly escaping its collapse, she travels to Paris. There, she reunites with her former lover, George, and enlists the help of Benji, a cameraman. Together, they decipher a riddle on Nicolas Flamel’s headstone, leading them 370 feet beneath the streets of Paris. Scarlett recruits a guide named Papillon, his girlfriend Souxie, and their friend Zed to explore the Catacombs of Paris. George initially refuses to join but is forced into the caves when the group is discovered by a policeman.
After navigating a narrow, collapsing tunnel, the group encounters a group of singing, seemingly possessed female cultists. They find themselves in a blocked tunnel that Papillon hesitates to breach, as those who have ventured through, including his friend La Taupe, have never returned. Despite attempting an alternate route, they end up back where they started, forcing them to proceed through the tunnel. As they delve deeper into the catacombs, they meet La Taupe, who agrees to guide them out, explaining that the only way to escape is to go further down.
Eventually, they discover a tomb containing a preserved Templar Knight, a treasure pile, and the Flamel Stone. Scarlett retrieves the stone but realizes too late that the treasure is a trap, causing the room to collapse. La Taupe is buried under the rubble and abandoned by the group. With the Flamel Stone, Scarlett uses its magic to heal the group’s injuries. They come across a drawing of a door on the ceiling, accompanied by a Gnostic Star of David, symbolizing “As above, so below.”
