The current Santa, Malcolm Claus, oversees his seventieth mission since 1941. However, his role is largely ceremonial, as his son Steve and his assistant elf Peter manage the intricate operations of the North Pole. Malcolm’s younger son, Arthur, is responsible for answering letters to Santa.
During a delivery in Poland, a mishap occurs when a toy accidentally activates, waking a child and nearly exposing Santa’s secret. In the chaos, an elf on the S-1 accidentally triggers the release of a gift from the supply chain, leaving it undelivered.
After the mission, Malcolm delivers a speech to the elves, expressing his anticipation for his seventy-first mission. This frustrates Steve, who expected to succeed his father as Santa.
At their family Christmas dinner, tensions rise as Malcolm and Steve argue. Meanwhile, Grandsanta, Malcolm’s retired predecessor, voices his discontent with the modernization, longing for the traditional ways. Steve suddenly leaves the table when his PDA alerts him to an issue.
