Storyline:
The movie centers around a young woman named Fei Fei, who is introduced to the legend of the moon goddess. According to the tale, the goddess drank an immortality potion and now waits on the moon with only the Jade Rabbit as her companion. Fei Fei’s family prepares for the annual Moon Festival by making mooncakes together. However, tragedy strikes when Fei Fei’s mother falls ill and passes away, leaving her daughter a bunny named Bungee as a final gift.
Four years later, Fei Fei has grown into a bright and scientifically-minded individual who still believes in the legend of the moon goddess, Chang’e. Her life takes an unexpected turn when she discovers her father is dating a new woman, Mrs. Zhong, and is further annoyed by Mrs. Zhong’s lively son, Chin. Determined to prove the existence of Chang’e, Fei Fei designs a rocket shaped like a Chinese paper lantern rabbit, powered by fireworks.
During the rocket’s launch, Chin secretly boards it, causing it to malfunction. Just as they begin to crash, a mystical beam of energy captures the rocket and transports them to the moon. There, they encounter playful spirits who guide them to safety. The story unfolds as Fei Fei navigates her journey, driven by memories of her mother and her belief in the legend.
Ultimately, Fei Fei’s family joins her for the Moon Festival celebration, where she learns her father is engaged to Mrs. Zhong. Inspired by her mother’s memory and the legend of Chang’e, Fei Fei continues her quest to prove the moon goddess’s existence, blending science and mythology in her heartwarming adventure.
