The plot centers around Almore’s near-complete human-like AI prototype, whose development is fraught with risks as he conceals his ultimate motive – reuniting with his wife.
Gavin Rothery, renowned for his work on Duncan Jones’ “Moon,” revealed the project on May 14, 2017, with Theo James initially confirmed as the lead. By October 31, 2018, Independent producers Philip Herd and Cora Helfrey joined, along with co-star Stacy Martin. James’ production label, Untapped, also participated, collaborating with Andrew D. Corkin. Vertical Entertainment secured U.S. distribution rights, while international rights remain available.
Filming commenced in Hungary in late October 2018, concluding in February 2019, with Laurie Rose as the cinematographer. Despite the pandemic’s impact on its debut, the film highlights Almore’s journey, intertwining technological innovation with deeply personal ambition.
