The film centers around Siddique, a muezzin at a local mosque in Manpura, portrayed by Pritom. One morning, he discovers the lifeless body of a woman in his room. Fearing the consequences if the villagers find out, he is consumed by worry.
Pritom and Nawshaba lead the film as the main characters. Pritom shared, “I enjoy challenging roles and always strive to do something unique. ‘Araal’ has a very distinctive story. It took multiple discussions with the team to perfect my appearance in the film. Shaving my mustache completely altered my look, and adapting my body language for the role was a real challenge.”
Nawshaba, speaking to The Business Standard, explained, “This story is about confronting our own conscience. It delves into various human narratives and encourages self-reflection.”
Director Nazmul Nobin added, “Psychological stories are often associated with urban settings, but this one unfolds in a rural environment. I aimed to highlight characters that are seldom portrayed in our society.”
Siddique, a devout and religious man, serves as a muezzin on a small island in Monpura. His life revolves around the local mosque, where he calls the villagers to prayer with the sound of the Azaan. One day, he returns home to find the body of a sex worker. With no idea how it got there, he buries it beneath his home. The body begins to haunt him in his dreams. When he eventually confesses to the police, they arrive to find the body has mysteriously vanished. What happened to the body? This question lingers as the gripping tale unfolds.
