Description: The story of *Annayum Rasoolum* (2013) is narrated by Ashley, who works in the merchant navy and is signing off in Kochi for the second time. He recalls the events of his previous visit to Kochi. The protagonist, Rasool, is a tourist taxi driver from Mattancherry, Kochi, who falls in love with Anna, a Latin Christian girl working as a salesgirl in a popular clothing store. Rasool patiently tries to win her affection, often following her as she commutes to work.
One day, Ashley hires Rasool’s taxi to pick up a relative from a textile shop, where Anna also boards the same taxi. During the ride, Anna leaves her bag in the vehicle, and Rasool finds her phone number inside. Initially hesitant, Rasoul sends her a text message after encouragement from his friends. When Anna doesn’t respond, Rasool directly confesses his love to her, leaving her shocked and speechless.
The next day, Rasool falls ill and stays home. Anna, accustomed to seeing him daily, feels restless and anxious in his absence. Overwhelmed by her emotions, she texts Rasool, prompting him to rush to meet her. Anna expresses her fears, doubting if their relationship could work due to their different religious backgrounds. However, Rasool reassures her that his love transcends religion.
Later, Anna takes Rasool to a convent, where a nun urges him to convert for the sake of marriage, but Rasool firmly refuses. The story explores the challenges faced by the couple as they navigate their feelings and societal expectations.
