Description: Annabelle: Creation (2017) follows the harrowing tale of Samuel Mullins, a dollmaker, and his wife Esther, who are devastated by the tragic loss of their seven-year-old daughter, Annabelle, affectionately called “Bee,” after she is accidentally struck by a car. Twelve years later, the couple opens their home to Sister Charlotte and six orphaned girls whose orphanage has shut down. Despite being warned to stay away from Bee’s locked bedroom, Janice, a young orphan disabled by polio, discovers a note reading “Find me” and sneaks inside the room, which is mysteriously unlocked. She finds a key to Bee’s closet and uncovers a haunting porcelain doll, unknowingly unleashing a powerful demon that begins terrorizing the girls.
One night, the demon, taking on Bee’s form, confronts Janice and demands her soul. As Janice tries to escape using a stairlift, the demon manipulates it, flinging her violently to the ground and leaving her severely injured and confined to a wheelchair. Meanwhile, Janice’s best friend, Linda, is haunted by the demon. One morning, the demon, disguised as Sister Charlotte, wheels Janice into the barn, where it transforms into Bee and possesses Janice after forcing black bile into her mouth. Linda notices the changes in Janice’s behavior and informs Samuel about the doll. Janice, now able to walk, transforms into the demon and brutally kills Samuel.
Desperate, Linda takes the doll and throws it into a well. A strange noise emerges, and she is nearly dragged in, but Sister Charlotte rescues her. Sister Charlotte then speaks with Esther, who remains disfigured and confined to her bedroom. Esther reveals that after Bee’s death, she and Samuel prayed to any entity that could reunite them with their daughter. An unknown entity answered, briefly showing them Bee’s spirit but convincing them to transfer its essence into one of Samuel’s dolls. They soon realized they had summoned a demon seeking a human host.
The story is a chilling exploration of grief, loss, and the terrifying consequences of tampering with the unknown.
