Description: In Santa Monica, California, John Form, a doctor, gifts his pregnant wife Mia a rare vintage porcelain doll to add to their daughter’s nursery collection. That night, they hear their neighbors, the Higgins, being murdered during a home invasion. While Mia calls the police, they are attacked by the killers. The police shoot one assailant dead, while the female killer, holding the doll, slits her throat in the nursery. The attackers are identified as Annabelle, the Higgins’ estranged daughter, and her boyfriend, who belonged to a cult.
After the attack, strange paranormal events occur in the Forms’ home. Mia later gives birth to a healthy baby girl named Leah. The family moves to an apartment in Pasadena, where they find the discarded doll, triggering another series of eerie occurrences. Mia is haunted by a malevolent presence she believes is Annabelle’s ghost. She encounters a terrifying figure in the basement and narrowly escapes.
Mia contacts Detective Clarkin to learn more about Annabelle and the cult. With the help of Evelyn, a bookseller and neighbor, Mia discovers the cult practiced devil worship to summon a demon. This demon, linked to the doll, is now pursuing her family. Mia and John consult Father Perez, their priest, who explains that demons often latch onto objects to achieve their goals, requiring a human soul to fulfill their purpose.
