Description: In 1996, young Cletus Kasady develops feelings for Frances Barrison at a children’s home before she is sent to the Ravencroft Institute. During her transfer, Barrison uses her sonic scream abilities to escape, injuring a young police officer named Mulligan. Mulligan shoots Barrison in the eye, causing her apparent death, though she is secretly taken to the facility. Unaware of her survival, Mulligan believes he killed her.
Years later, Mulligan, now a detective, reaches out to Eddie Brock to interview Kasady, who has become a notorious serial killer. Kasady only agrees to speak with Brock. After the meeting, Kasady is sentenced to execution by lethal injection, and Brock attends the event. However, Venom, Brock’s symbiote, reacts to Kasady’s taunts and attacks him. In the chaos, Kasady bites Brock, absorbing a part of the symbiote. As Brock is removed from the prison, Kasady shouts that there’s something unusual about Brock’s blood.
Brock is later contacted by his ex-fiancée, Anne Weying, who informs him of her engagement to Dr. Dan Lewis. During Kasady’s execution, a red symbiote named Carnage emerges, halting the process. Carnage aids Kasady in a violent escape, leading to a massacre at the prison. The two strike a deal: Carnage will help Kasady free Barrison from Ravencroft, and Kasady will assist in destroying Venom.
Mulligan warns Brock about the situation, but Venom, craving greater freedom, separates from Brock, leaving them to go their separate ways. Meanwhile, Kasady successfully frees Barrison, and they return to their childhood home, burning it down. Mulligan, suspicious of Brock due to his earlier interaction with Kasady, takes him in for questioning. Brock, unwilling to cooperate, seeks Weying’s legal assistance. He reveals that he needs Venom’s help to confront Carnage. As Venom navigates San Francisco by transferring between hosts, Weying locates him and persuades him to reconcile with Brock.
