Description: An American Tail is a 1986 animated film set in 19th-century Russia. The story follows the Mousekewitz family, a group of Russian-Jewish mice living under the Moskowitz human household. During a Hanukkah celebration, the family discusses the United States, a land believed to be free of cats. However, their celebration is interrupted when Cossacks attack the village, destroying both the Moskowitz and Mousekewitz homes.
Seeking safety, the Mousekewitzes board a ship bound for New York City, filled with hope for a better life. During a storm, their youngest son, Fievel, is separated from his family and swept overboard. Believing he is lost, the family continues their journey to New York, heartbroken by his absence.
Miraculously, Fievel survives and washes ashore in America. While his family mourns their loss, Fievel wanders the streets of New York, determined to reunite with them.
