Description: Octavio, portrayed by Gael García Bernal, is deeply in love with Susana, his brother Ramiro’s wife, played by Vanessa Bauche. Disturbed by the abuse Susana endures from Ramiro, Octavio urges her to escape with him. Meanwhile, a local thug named Jarocho, victorious in a dogfight, releases his dog on stray animals and faces threats from a vagrant armed with a machete. Eventually, Jarocho sets his dog on Octavio’s Rottweiler, Cofi, but Cofi kills Jarocho’s dog instead. Desperate for money to start a new life with Susana, Octavio enters the illegal dogfighting world. Despite Jarocho continuously introducing new dogs to the fights, Cofi emerges victorious each time. Octavio earns enough money to flee with Susana and pays Mauricio, the owner of the dogfighting venue, to have Ramiro beaten up. Fearing for his life, Ramiro steals the money and escapes with Susana. Left financially strained, Octavio agrees to a private dogfight challenge organized by Jarocho, with no external bets. Although Cofi is about to win, Jarocho shoots him. Enraged, Octavio stabs Jarocho in the stomach. Pursued by Jarocho’s thugs, Octavio ends up in a car chase with his friend Jorge and the injured Cofi. The chase culminates in a collision that kills Jorge and severely injures Octavio.
In another storyline, Daniel, a magazine publisher played by Álvaro Guerrero, leaves his family to live with his lover Valeria, a Spanish supermodel portrayed by Goya Toledo. On the day they move in together, Valeria suffers a severe leg injury in a car accident, ending her modeling career. While recovering in Daniel’s apartment, Valeria’s dog Richie disappears under a broken floorboard, remaining trapped for days. The dog’s disappearance triggers tension between the couple, leading to frequent arguments and doubts about their relationship. Daniel calls his estranged wife, hinting at regret for leaving her for Valeria.
