Description: Amazon Obhijaan, released in 2017, is an Indian Bengali-language action-adventure film directed by Kamaleshwar Mukherjee and produced by Shrikant Mohta and Mahendra Soni under Shree Venkatesh Films. The movie serves as the sequel to the 2013 film *Chander Pahar* and is the second installment in the *Chander Pahar* series. It stars Dev Adhikari in the lead role of Shankar.
The story follows Shankar, who is approached by Anna Florian (Svetlana Gulakova), a young Italian anthropologist, to accompany her and her father, Marco Florian (David James), on an expedition to the Amazon. Their mission is to find the legendary City of Gold, known as El Dorado or the City of Manoa, which has fascinated explorers for centuries. Marco, who had previously failed in his attempt to locate the city, is struggling with depression, and Anna hopes that this journey will help him recover.
As Shankar embarks on this perilous adventure, the film explores themes of courage, discovery, and the pursuit of the unknown. *Amazon Obhijaan* became a significant milestone for Bengali cinema, as it marked the 100th production by Shree Venkatesh Films. It was also the highest-grossing Bengali film of its time.
The movie was released theatrically on December 22, 2017, and later dubbed into Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Odia, and Assamese. It also made history as the first Bengali film to have a theatrical release in the United Kingdom on January 12, 2018.
