Description: Sasha Tran and Marcus Kim, childhood friends, grow up next door to each other in San Francisco. Sasha’s Vietnamese immigrant parents often leave her alone to manage their store, so Marcus’s Korean-American parents, especially his mother Judy, frequently invite her over for dinner and teach her how to cook. Over time, Sasha and Marcus develop a strong bond that lasts into their teenage years. However, their friendship shatters after Marcus’s mother dies in an accident. In their grief, they share an intimate moment, but a heated argument soon after drives them apart, and they lose contact.
Sixteen years later, Sasha has become a renowned celebrity chef and is engaged to Brandon Choi, a successful restaurateur. Meanwhile, Marcus still lives in San Francisco with his widowed father and plays in a local band that has yet to achieve success. He is in a relationship with Jenny, an Asian American woman with dreadlocks. Sasha breaks off her engagement with Brandon after he postpones their wedding yet again. Returning to the Bay Area to open a new restaurant, she unexpectedly encounters Marcus when he and his father are hired to install air conditioning in her temporary home.
Initially, their reunion is tense, but they eventually reconnect and rekindle their friendship. Marcus confides in his father that he still harbors feelings for Sasha. Before he can express this to her, Sasha reveals that she has started seeing someone new. Their lives take a chaotic turn during a double date with Marcus’s girlfriend and Sasha’s new love interest, the famous actor Keanu Reeves. The evening spirals into chaos as Sasha admits her long-held childhood crush on Marcus, leading to a physical altercation between Marcus and Keanu. In the end, Jenny spends the night with Keanu, leaving their relationships in disarray.
