**Storyline:**
Ellen Ripley has been in stasis for 57 years after escaping her ship, the Nostromo, which she destroyed to avoid a deadly alien creature that killed her crew. She is rescued and questioned by her employers, the Weyland-Yutani Corporation, who doubt her story about alien eggs on the exomoon LV-426. This location is now home to the terraforming colony Hadley’s Hope. When contact with the colony is lost, Ripley is asked by Weyland-Yutani representative Carter Burke and Colonial Marine Lieutenant Gorman to join an investigation. Despite her trauma, she agrees on the condition that the aliens are eliminated. Ripley meets the Colonial Marines and an android, Bishop, on the spaceship Sulaco.
A dropship takes the team to LV-426, where they find the colony abandoned. Inside, they encounter barricades and signs of battle but no bodies—only two live alien facehuggers in containment tanks and a traumatized girl named Newt. The crew discovers the colonists beneath the fusion-powered atmosphere processing station, where they find the colonists cocooned and serving as incubators for the alien offspring. When an infant alien bursts from a colonist’s chest, it triggers an ambush by adult aliens, resulting in the deaths or capture of many Marines. Ripley takes command, rescues some survivors, and they retreat to the colony after their dropship crashes due to a stowaway alien.
Ripley later learns that Burke ordered the colonists to investigate the derelict ship with the alien eggs, intending to profit from biological weapon research.
