Description: In 2021, Earth faces an invasion by extraterrestrial beings known as “Heavies,” who swiftly gain ground due to the disorganized response from various nations. After the United Nations is dissolved, the United Space Defense Force (USDF) is formed as a unified military front, successfully driving the aliens off the planet. However, thousands of their forces remain stranded on Earth. A network of defensive satellites is deployed to prevent a potential second invasion.
By 2033, two journalists embed with reinforcements sent to a demilitarized zone between Pakistan and Afghanistan, where Outpost 37, one of the last USDF stations, is located. After enduring initial hazing, the new recruits settle into life at the outpost.
Local villagers launch an attack on the outpost, and a soldier explains that relations with the villagers have deteriorated due to perceived violations of their sovereignty. Although the soldiers repel the assault, one is wounded and sent away to recover. Their requests for supplies are denied, but they receive a replacement soldier, Hans, a German volunteer who joins the mostly American unit.
Later, Saleem, a local loyal to Outpost 37 after being rescued by the soldiers, reports that villagers have complained about animal mutilations. The captain sends a team to investigate. An angry villager claims mortar fire killed his livestock, but the soldiers deny responsibility. As Saleem translates, a dazed villager approaches and suddenly explodes. From a nearby hill, a Heavy opens fire, forcing the soldiers to retreat.
Saleem notices that one soldier, North, is missing. Despite a thorough search, they fail to locate him. Video footage from North’s recovered helmet reveals he was abducted by the Heavies. Concerned by the aliens’ new tactics involving ambushes and abductions, the captain leaves the base to consult with his superiors, instructing the soldiers to remain on the base at all costs.
