Director Pratim D. Gupta shared that he had long aspired to create a unique love story. The idea for the airport-based plot had been with him for years, and he later developed three additional stories that complemented the themes of loneliness, love, and companionship. Much like his earlier work, Shaheb Bibi Golaam, these narratives intertwine, merging into one cohesive tale.
The characters played by Anjan Dutt, Mamata Shankar, Ritwick Chakraborty, Paoli Dam, and Parno Mittra were specifically written with them in mind, as Gupta had previously collaborated with them in Shaheb Bibi Golaam and Maacher Jhol. Adil Hussain joined the project after reading just a few pages of the script, marking his first collaboration with the director. Chitrangada Chakraborty was selected after multiple auditions for the role of Titli.
Upon its release, Ahare Mon received widespread acclaim, with critics praising it as a heartwarming collection of endearing love stories. Shantanu Ray Chaudhuri of Film Companion hailed it as “the best Bengali film of the year,” awarding it 4 out of 5 stars.
