The next day, Tessa learns from her classmate Landon that he and Hardin are soon to become stepbrothers due to their parents’ engagement. After a heated class debate, Hardin approaches Tessa, suggesting they start over and inviting her to a nearby lake. There, he kisses her, declaring they cannot remain just friends. Later, Tessa and Hardin run into Molly and Zed at a diner, prompting Tessa to vow to tell her boyfriend about the kiss with Hardin.
