Description: In the late 21st century, the solar system faces mysterious power surges that endanger all human life. Major Roy McBride, son of the presumed-deceased astronaut H. Clifford McBride, is informed by U.S. Space Command (SpaceCom) that these surges are linked to the “Lima Project.” This initiative, led by Clifford 29 years ago, aimed to search the galaxy for intelligent life. However, contact with the Lima crew ceased after they reached Neptune 16 years earlier. Learning his father might still be alive, Roy agrees to travel to Mars to attempt communication with him. Accompanied by Colonel Pruitt, his father’s former associate, Roy remains calm, showing little emotion despite the news.
Upon arriving on the Moon, Roy and Pruitt head to a SpaceCom base located in a war-torn area on the Moon’s far side. During their journey in lunar rovers, scavenger pirates ambush them, killing their escorts. Roy and Pruitt manage to reach the base, but Pruitt suffers a heart issue and stays behind. He entrusts Roy with a classified message: if Roy fails to contact his father, the Lima Project station must be destroyed.
While traveling to Mars aboard *Cepheus*, the crew intercepts a distress signal from a Norwegian biomedical research station. Captain Tanner insists on investigating, despite Roy’s objections. Upon arriving, the station seems abandoned. While searching, Roy and Tanner split up; Roy discovers an escaped baboon attacking Tanner. Roy kills the baboon and another one, but Tanner succumbs to his injuries. Roy remains composed, admitting in a psychological evaluation that he feels rage and recalls his father expressing similar emotions.
Another power surge strikes as *Cepheus* tries to land on Mars. Roy takes command and safely lands the ship after the acting captain panics.
