**Storyline:**
Perhaps a film with so little ambition doesn’t deserve such a harsh critique. However, we’ve mostly moved past the most exhausting chick-flick clichés. It’s disappointing to see Margot (Emma Roberts) lose her composure when her boyfriend Kip (Lewis Tan, *Into the Badlands*) suggests dining at Bennigan’s. For reasons only clear to screenwriter Tiffany Paulsen, Margot becomes fixated on the idea that Kip is about to propose, even though they’ve only been dating for three months. Kip, as baffled as the audience, watches as Margot throws a drink in his face and storms off. This moment becomes a turning point in her life.
Ironically, people do propose at Bennigan’s—Griffin (Thomas Mann, *Me and Earl and the Dying Girl*) does just that. However, his influencer girlfriend Clementine (Madelaine Petsch, *Riverdale*) is far from impressed by the location and storms out as well. The movie’s blatant product placement, including a scene where characters get coffee at “Starcups,” adds an unintentionally amusing contrast.
Following this, a drunken and miserable Griffin ends up at Margot’s place by coincidence—they both live at 15 Maple Drive, but in different units of a large condo complex. This twist of fate (or perhaps a first-draft oversight) leads to confusion, especially when Margot accidentally climbs into bed with Griffin, causing both to scream in shock.
