Description: In “A Wolf at the Door” (2013), the story revolves around Sylvia, a mother and housewife, who discovers her daughter Clara is missing when she goes to pick her up from school. The teacher informs Sylvia that someone claiming to be her called, stating Clara was ill and a neighbor would collect her instead.
At the police station, Sylvia, her husband Bernardo, and the teacher are questioned for leads. Bernardo suspects Rosa, a woman with whom he has been having an affair. When Rosa is brought in for questioning, she initially claims she was blackmailed by a woman named Bete, who allegedly had a husband involved with Sylvia. However, the police uncover this as a fabrication, and Rosa eventually confesses.
The affair between Rosa and Bernardo began passionately after they met at a train station. Rosa becomes distressed upon learning Bernardo is married with a family. Despite agreeing to remain his lover, she begins visiting his wife and daughter, pretending to be a mutual friend and giving gifts to the child. Bernardo, furious upon discovering this, abuses Rosa and warns her to stay away from his family.
Ignoring his threats, Rosa seeks revenge by manipulating a woman at a bar to call Bernardo, posing as the wife of Sylvia’s supposed lover to disrupt their relationship. Rosa also realizes Bernardo is reconciling with Sylvia, signaling the end of their affair.
The film delves into themes of betrayal, manipulation, and the consequences of indiscretion.
