Description: “A Company Man” is a 2012 action thriller that follows the story of Hyeong-do (played by So Ji-sub), a seemingly ordinary white-collar employee who is, in reality, a highly skilled hitman. Working for a metal fabrication company that serves as a front for a contract-killing organization, Hyeong-do is one of the best in his field and is on the verge of a promotion. However, his life takes a dramatic turn when he meets Mi-yeon (Lee Mi-yeon), a single mother, and begins to develop feelings for her.
Struggling with guilt over his violent past, Hyeong-do decides to leave his dangerous profession, shocking both his colleagues and enemies. His decision to quit makes him a target, and he soon finds himself hunted by the very organization he once served. The film explores themes of redemption, morality, and the consequences of one’s choices as Hyeong-do fights to protect himself and those he cares about.
In a parallel story, Hyeong-do suggests a temporary employee, Ra-hoon (Kim Dong-jun), for a job, only to realize he must eliminate him afterward. Ra-hoon’s final wish to give his savings to his mother leads Hyeong-do to meet Mi-yeon, who turns out to be a former singer he admired in his youth. This encounter awakens buried emotions in Hyeong-do, causing him to lose focus on his duties. As his behavior changes, his employers grow suspicious, putting him and his loved ones in grave danger. Ultimately, Hyeong-do must face the ruthless organization he once unquestioningly served.
