Description: “A Bronx Tale,” released in 1993, is a gripping drama set in the 1960s. The story follows Lorenzo, an MTA bus driver living in Belmont, a working-class Italian-American neighborhood in The Bronx, with his wife Rosina and their nine-year-old son, Calogero. Calogero becomes fascinated by the criminal underworld led by a local mob boss, Sonny, after witnessing Sonny kill a man assaulting his friend. Calogero’s silence during a police investigation earns Sonny’s trust, who then gives him the nickname “C.” Despite Sonny’s offer of a better-paying job, Lorenzo chooses to remain a law-abiding bus driver, warning Sonny to stay away from his son.
Eight years later, Calogero, now 17, secretly continues his relationship with Sonny while being part of a local gang. He also forms a tentative friendship with Jane, a black girl, despite the racial tensions in the neighborhood. Calogero seeks advice from both his father and Sonny before arranging a date with Jane. However, tensions escalate when Calogero’s friends assault black cyclists, including Jane’s brother, leading to a confrontation during their date. Calogero’s impulsive use of a racial slur drives Jane away. At home, Calogero clashes with his father over his involvement with Sonny, and soon after, Sonny discovers a bomb planted in his car, adding further danger to the already tense situation.”
