Description: Amy, portrayed by Mila Kunis, is enjoying her relationship with Jessie (Jay Hernandez) and anticipates a quiet Christmas. However, her plans are disrupted when her mother Ruth (Christine Baranski), known for her critical nature, announces her visit for the holidays.
Meanwhile, Kiki (Kristen Bell) is still managing her busy life with four children, though her husband Kent has become more supportive. Kiki is caught off guard when her mother Sandy (Cheryl Hines) arrives three days early, planning an extended stay. Sandy’s excessive affection becomes overwhelming for Kiki.
Carla (Kathryn Hahn) returns home to find her estranged mother Isis (Susan Sarandon) waiting, expressing a desire to reconnect after years of absence. Eager to rebuild their relationship, Carla is thrilled by the unexpected visit.
The trio of Amy, Kiki, and Carla bond over their shared frustrations during a mall outing, deciding to reclaim Christmas from the stress it brings. Ruth, however, complicates things by insisting on an extravagant celebration, contrary to Amy’s wish for simplicity. To counter this, Amy organizes a family outing to Sky Zone, where Ruth, Sandy, and Isis interact while their daughters enjoy time with their children.
In another turn of events, Carla meets Ty (Justin Hartley), a dancer competing in a Sexy Santa contest, who invites her to accompany him. She happily agrees. On the other hand, Kiki struggles with Sandy’s overbearing behavior and consults Dr. Karl (Wanda Sykes) to address the issue. The session escalates into a heated argument, leading Sandy to leave in frustration.
The film explores the challenges of balancing family expectations with personal desires during the holiday season, as Amy, Kiki, and Carla navigate the complexities of their relationships with their mothers.
