Description: In 1997, forensic psychiatrist Dr. Jack Gramm provides crucial testimony in the trial of Jon Forster, a suspected serial killer known as “The Seattle Slayer.” Gramm’s expertise leads to Forster’s conviction for the attempted murder of Janie Cates and the killing of her sister Joanie, who was drugged, hanged upside down, and murdered in their apartment. After the verdict, Forster ominously tells Gramm, “Tick-tock, Doc.”
Nine years later, as Forster’s execution date nears, a series of similar gruesome murders occur. Gramm, now a professor at the University of Washington, is questioned by federal agents and a lawyer from the Attorney General’s office. The latest victim, Dale Morris, is revealed to have been Gramm’s former psychology student. While heading to his class, Gramm receives a threatening phone call from an anonymous voice warning that he has only 88 minutes left to live. He reports the threat to his secretary and requests a risk assessment of potential suspects.
During class, Gramm receives another threatening call and begins to suspect his students, especially Mike Stempt. The Dean interrupts the session to announce a bomb threat, forcing an evacuation. Outside, Gramm discovers threatening messages on both the classroom projector and his vandalized car in the parking garage. His teaching assistant, Kim Cummings, offers to help uncover the culprit. In the stairwell, Gramm finds one of his students, Lauren Douglas, attacked by an unknown assailant and immediately reports the incident to campus security.
