Description: The 2003 film *21 Grams* follows the interconnected lives of three individuals. Jack Jordan, a former convict, turns to religion to overcome his struggles with drug addiction and alcoholism. Paul Rivers, a mathematics professor with a life-threatening heart condition, faces the grim reality of needing a transplant to survive. His wife, Mary, urges him to consider sperm donation so she can have his child if he passes. Cristina Peck, a former addict, now leads a stable life as a devoted mother and swimmer, supported by her husband and children.
Their lives collide when Jack tragically kills Cristina’s husband and children in a hit-and-run accident. Cristina’s husband’s heart is donated to Paul, who begins his recovery. Overwhelmed by grief, Cristina relapses into addiction. Meanwhile, Paul, learning of his wife’s past abortion, ends their relationship and becomes obsessed with uncovering the identity of his donor. Jack, consumed by guilt, turns to drugs again and, despite his wife’s pleas, surrenders to authorities. In prison, he questions his faith, feels betrayed by God, and attempts suicide. The film explores themes of loss, guilt, and the search for redemption as their stories intertwine.
