Description: In November 1939, Georg Elser, played by Christian Friedel, plants a homemade bomb inside a Munich Bierkeller. After the attempt, he tries to flee to Switzerland but is captured at the border. His bomb detonates, narrowly missing Adolf Hitler by just 13 minutes. German security forces discover evidence linking Elser to the assassination attempt and suspect he had accomplices. They subject him to severe torture and detain his family, including Else Härlen, portrayed by Katharina Schüttler, a married woman with whom Elser had a relationship. Fearing for Else’s safety, Elser confesses to acting alone, explaining how he obtained detonators from a steel factory and stole dynamite from a quarry. He describes the clockwork mechanisms he built to time the explosion. Despite his confession, the authorities continue to torture him with drugs, but Elser maintains he acted independently. Flashbacks reveal his growing hatred for the Nazis and his belief that Hitler needed to be eliminated to save Germany. After his arrest, Elser was held in concentration camps for five years and was executed shortly before American forces liberated Dachau, just weeks before the war ended. Today, Georg Elser is remembered as a hero of the German resistance during World War II.
